Hammer’s Volunteer of the Month for September is Raga Rachuru!
Raga is a Wayzata High School student who first heard about Hammer through the school’s Youth Extending Service volunteer organization. She has been volunteering in Hammer’s Advocacy department over the summer and has been a critical component of Hammer’s Get Out the Vote campaign.
When asked why she wanted to become involved with Hammer, she said it was based on her research. “I learned how powerful Hammer was in creating positive change, how empowering it was to the individuals it served, and how it had the ability to bring the community together. After seeing all the good impact it had done, I realized it was an environment I had a lot to learn and grow from, and I wanted to help create positive change, too.”
Raga said the best part about volunteering with Hammer was being surrounded by such bright, hardworking, and most importantly, passionate individuals. ”The people who serve Hammer truly care and have a special heart, they make me want better for the world. They have taught me so much and continue to have a major impact on my life.”
Thank you, Raga, for advocating for those we support, and for being such a strong proponent for positive change! If you are interested in volunteering, please contact Cathy Thoma at cthoma@hammer.org or 952-345-8554.
