Congratulations to our Volunteer of the Month, Abbie Hadley!
Abbie discovered Hammer through the United Health Care company volunteer website. Having worked with individuals with special needs since elementary school, she knew she wanted to continue to be involved with our community when she moved to Minnesota. Abbie was matched with Carla at Rockford last year.
Abbie says, “I enjoy volunteering with Carla because of her energy. I love it when she dances and laughs and jokes with me. We can be going on a walk or doing crafts together, and my favorite part is always her energetic and positive personality! I always go home happy having spent time with her.”
Carla also values her relationship with Abbie. She had this to say, “I like Abbie. She’s a nice friend. She likes doing stuff with me, going to movies, art stuff, out to eat, cheers me on at swim practice, and makes cookies. We do a lot of fun stuff together. I am excited to meet her new boy baby in the fall!”
