Celebrating Our CareGivers–August 2022

Congratulations to Quita Kialain and Paul Roberts!

Each month, we ask Hammer’s (West metro) and NER’s (East metro) Program Directors to nominate Direct Support Professionals and Assistant Program Managers on their team who are going above and beyond to make a difference in the life (or lives) of those they serve. One nominee from Hammer and one from NER are selected and receive their choice of a $25 gift card to Starbucks, Target, Holiday, or Cub Foods.

Quita Kialain, August Caregiver of the month.

Quita Kialain – Direct Support Professional at Hammer’s Stone Creek Home

Quita is always willing to do more. She helps with extra shifts, adjusts her schedule to fill in for short days, and is often called on to work at other Hammer homes. Her Program Manager says Quita is kind and fun to work with and always person centered when caring for and interacting with the individuals she serves.

When Quita goes on shopping trips with the individuals we serve, she encourages them to take the lead. She walks with them at their pace and helps them read labels and shopping lists. When Quita takes our individuals bowling she helps them as needed and cheers them on to bowl their best game.

Quita goes above and beyond her required duties, always being flexible, having a positive attitude, and offering a beautiful smile.

Paul Roberts, August Caregiver of the month.

Paul Roberts Float, NER Direct Support Professional

In his role as a “Float,” Paul helps cover sites across our community but has been working at our 5th Street home predominantly. He has a very noticeable respect for the individuals we serve. He takes the time to get to know and understand them to provide the best care possible. Paul is a people person and a strong communicator and is able to reach the people we serve on a different level than simply “care giving.” Because of his ability to reach them on an interpersonal level, the individuals we serve are always excited to see him and respect him as well.

Paul has selflessly served NER for four years. He has often given up his personal time and home life to ensure the individuals we serve are well taken care of throughout our staffing crisis. Paul’s selfless service and positive attitude have a powerful impact on the lives of the people we serve.

Thank you Quita and Paul for ALL you do each day to support the individuals we serve.
