Community Life

Eating Healthy. Staying Active. Living Life.

The mission of the Community Life Department is to establish a culture of wellness by encouraging and empowering individuals and staff to make healthy, informed, and well-balanced choices. The department focuses on supporting our individuals and staff in three areas: fitness, nutrition, and wellness.

We are committed to our mission to provide the people we serve the opportunity to live life to its fullest. To talk to someone about our services, contact Chris Chica, Residential Services Coordinator at cchica@hammer.org or call 952-277-2449.

Activities for Homes & Apartments

The Community Life department hosts weekly events focused on fitness ranging from floor hockey to dance classes, bowling, and walking groups in the community. We share healthy recipes and coordinate Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) shares to our homes and apartments, increasing access to fresh and nutritious food.

Community Life Calendar

We support individual wellness through our Community Life Calendar, community resource pages, and weekly weekend planning tools. We also provide opportunities for people to make friends and socialize in the community which is essential for living a full life.

A Healthy and Active

The Community Life department promotes and supports fitness programs, wellness classes, and activities for people supported. They also offer a monthly calendar of events from joining a bowling league, movie night, crafts, and outings out in the community. There are many ways to stay active and involved in activities, organized our Community Life Department.
