Reach for Ralph is our annual summer fundraiser. You can make a difference to people with intellectual disabilities. Join our fun, casual event. Enjoy a buffet dinner, auctions and games. You will be inspired by stories of people who are supported by Hammer and Northeast Residence.
Who is Ralph and What is He Reaching For?
Ralph was a lovable boy who had a disability few people understood in the 1920’s. Most people believed Ralph should be placed in an institution but our founder, Alvina Hammer, offered a caring environment, the first Hammer School. Ralph was the inspiration for our logo figure and statues. He reaches toward the sky, symbolizing hope and striving for all that is possible. Ralph represents individuals, with differing abilities who thrive, living the life they deserve with compassionate care in their communities.
