We know that when our staff, volunteers, board members, and families come together, we are a powerful force to advocate for change. Together, we can impact legislation that improves the lives of the people we serve as well as the broader disability community.
Hammer’s advocacy efforts aim to bring together our main stakeholder groups to support and bring change that improves the lives of the people we serve. Groups include families, friends, staff, volunteers, and self-advocates, who are the people served by Hammer. We all must advocate for individuals with disabilities, because each person has the right to receive quality services to live life to its fullest.
With your help, we continue to advocate for home and community-based services. Together we can help implement change in legislation for workers to make it possible for people with disabilities and older adults to live their best life. Individuals should have access to well-trained and compensated staff, along with the opportunity to be engaged and active in their communities. You can make a difference. Let your government officials know what we do is important.
You can advocate for Hammer and the individuals we support by making phone calls to your representative, sending emails, and letters, or joining us for Advocacy Days at the Capitol. We also have partnerships with ARRM, Arc, This Is Medicaid, and many other national and state advocacy groups. Sign up to receive advocacy alerts to stay informed.
